How dare you Ms. Margaret Johnson “Belize has a new hush-hush Miss Belize”

Oh my, I am an out spoken individual regarding a number of topics relating to my beautiful country Belize; however I never thought that I would start my first blog post like this.

I am so disgusted over the comments mad tonight by Ms. Margaret Johnson of “Pageants Belize” the organization with rights over the Miss Belize pageant. Ok I going to keep it real her... from the time this lady bought over the rights for Pageants Belize in 2005 it seem like she has been taking the professional image down to the dirt. For reference, take a look at http://web.archive.org/web/20030210174531/http://www.missbelize.bz/ and http://web.archive.org/web/20040616092334/www.missbelize.bz/2004/ now lets fast forward to 2008 and take a look at http://www.missbelize.bz.

Now to what got me disgusted about Ms. Johnson... a new Miss Belize was crowned but the shock and disrespect to the country is that Belizeans did not get an opportunity to enjoy the moment with the new Miss Belize as she get crowned in such a “prestigious” pageant. The new Miss Belize instead was crowned in a rundown looking house on Raccoon Street Ext. Apparently at the home of Ms. Johnson with only a few guests. And who were these invited guests... on the family members of the ladies vying for the prestigious pageant. Now when asked why the pageant was held in such a location, her response was annoying to me and I know a number of Belizeans probably felt the same way. “quote: it is a new format and some people in Belize just would not understand it”.

Ok Ms. Johnson I am a “duncy” Belizean eh!
Now I agree that Miss Universe and Miss World are pageants that help to promote your country, culture, tourism, etc. However, how can we support an organization headed by an individual that looks upon an entire country as “duncy”... country that she claims is her home.

I agree, most Belizeans would not understand this new format. Let's just hope that the new Miss Belize will find her reign worth the time-off she has taken from graduate school. And let's hope she and her runner-ups get all that they were promised.

lol. i think the title you're looking for is: 'How dare you..', not 'how dear you...'

I was wondering if anybody else thought that comment from that lady was offending.

I seriously felt "duncy"... like the author says. come on... i'm pretty sure if she had explained the format, we would have at least tried to understand it.
